Lukas Platt in the race for the DM

Oberberg. Lugau in the Erzgebirge was the venue for the third event of the German Motocross Championship in the Open class. With Lukas Platt, MSC Bielstein still has a hot candidate in the fight for the championship title.

The Gummersbacher once again benefited from his mostly good starts and initially finished second in both races. However, little things prevented a result on the podium. In the first run, another rider apparently touched the gear lever of Platt's Sarholz KTM during the often tight starting phase, which caused the idle to jump in and Platt fell back a few places. His fighting spirit kept him in third place. However, due to a self-inflicted driving error at the end of the race, we only managed fourth place in the end.

A similar picture in race two, another start in the top 3, but with the early realization that the competition in first and second place was simply stronger.

“There was a step-down double jump that both of them jumped. After two attempts, I couldn't jump this with enough confidence and decided that I would rather lose some time, not fight for the day's victory, but go home safely. However, the fourth-placed driver was also able to catch up with me and attacked me so hard during the overtaking maneuver that I crashed and only saw the finish line in fifth place,” said Lukas Platt.

Although fourth place in the daily ranking is the ungrateful first place next to the podium, this still means third place in the championship, which continues on June 9th in Schweighausen in the Black Forest.

Platt is planning a guest start for the first time at the “Grand Prix of Germany” in Teutschenthal during the Motocross World Championship race (June 1st/2nd).

“I haven't quite got the entry fee yet, but I'm confident that I'll be able to take part in the MXGP of Germany,” he says happily. In addition to his home race in Bielstein on 22/23. This June could be one of the highlights of Platt's racing calendar.
