World Shop Day: District town joins in

Gummersbach. The Weltladen Gummersbach also took part in the nationwide World Shop Day this year. This time the topic was “Taking responsibility for climate damage”. This request was written on postcards that were addressed to politicians and could be signed by passers-by: “Heat, floods and hurricanes are destroying our livelihoods around the world. Small farmers and artisans in the countries of the Global South are hit particularly hard. They need easy access to financial assistance for climate-related damage and losses now. Stand up for a fair climate policy that quickly supports the people most affected.” Around 40 signatures were collected, which were sent together with further cards to the Oberberg Bundestag members Sabine Grützmacher and Dr. Carsten Brodesser will be handed over as a political task.

In order to get into conversation with citizens, the world shop received active support from the Fairtrade Town steering group with an information stand and fair coffee serving.
