Successful start to the strategic search
Last Tuesday, May 14th, a major control operation was carried out in the Euskirchen city center area with several officers from the Euskirchen police and with the support of the Federal Police.
Euskirchen (red). The control operation took place as a prelude to the so-called “Strategic Manhunt”. The basis for this is the NRW Police Act. District administrator and head of the authority Markus Ramers got his own impression of the inspection day on site.
The “Strategic Manhunt” ordered by the head of the authority himself aims, among other things, to combat crime, shed light on the dark area, prevent lawless spaces and strengthen the population's sense of security. The “Strategic Search” is limited in space and time. The measure initially applies for 28 days. During this time, visual inspections are permitted even without a specific reason. With particular consideration of proportionality, people can be checked and questioned about their identity. Items and vehicles you are carrying can also be inspected.
On Tuesday, 143 people were checked and 48 vehicles were checked until the evening. Among other things, there were four arrests to execute arrest warrants and nine expulsions were issued. Seven vehicles were complained about. 26 administrative offenses were identified.
Head of the agency Ramers: “For me, the strategic search is a very important instrument. We are showing that the police do not look away, but rather ensure security, especially here in Euskirchen. We tell the criminal scene: Be careful, you are being monitored - and crimes will be consistently prosecuted.”
