“Hannes Eitz” - SCV christens new school boat
Erftstadt (vd). The setting could hardly have been better: beautiful weather, Lake Liblar and several hundred visitors at the sailing club Ville's open day. And yet some members shed a few tears. The first chairman of the club, Stephan Weiser (photo left), focused on a special member of the club: Hannes Eitz, who did not just leave a “mark” in the sailing club. “These are eternal waves on the water, which are now cemented by the new school boat,” concluded Stephan Weiser, before things got solemn and the well-known Erftstadt artist Helga Eitz (r.) named the new school boat in the name of her late husband and honorary member of the SCV - in the presence, among others, of the state parliament member Gregor Golland (M.), district administrator Frank Rock and the deputy mayors of Erftstadt Stephanie Bethmann, Franz Holtz and Martin Kolbe. In addition, thanks to the SCV Bundesliga team, numerous guests even enjoyed the wind blowing around their faces on the lake. Meanwhile, the youngest visitors enjoyed a test ride in the “Optimist Jolle”. The team from the SCV sailing school was also particularly “in demand”, including with regard to training and family trips in Greece, Slovenia or on the IJsselmeer. The newly elected chairman of the cruising sailors, Iztok Zeljko, was also “in demand”. The SCV pointed out that sailors would again sail on the IJsselmeer in October. As evidence of the large crowds, the grill team and the cafeteria reported “sold out” in the early afternoon. The all-round successful day was rounded off by three new members, whom Stephan Weiser was able to welcome to the SCV at the end of the open day.
