Couple surprises debt collector and has to open safe
The police are looking for two masked intruders after a recent break-in on Friday morning (May 17th) in a single-family home in Cologne-Westhoven.
According to initial findings, the previously unknown men pried open the balcony door of the apartment building on Rheinaustraße around 9:30 a.m. and thus got into the bedroom on the upper floor. There they ransacked several cupboards until the homeowners (72,74) disrupted the further execution of the crime.
According to initial investigations, the attackers first overpowered the 72-year-old woman and then her husband, who rushed to help. The men, armed with a crowbar, then demanded to open the safe and hand over jewelry and cash. The suspects fled with their loot in an unknown direction.
At the time of the crime, the presumably black-haired men were said to be wearing black hoodies, dark quilted vests and dark trousers. The victims estimated that the suspect, who was around 180 cm tall, was around 20 years old. His slightly smaller accomplice is also described as being a little older.
Witnesses who can provide information about the attack or the fleeing suspect are asked to contact the investigators at Criminal Police Office 14 by telephone on 0221 229-0 or by email at poststelle.
