130 years of customs

Bad Godesberg (as). The previously well-known event location of the Lannesdorf clubs, the “Hall of the Old Farmers' Tavern”, woke up “from a five-year long slumber” as part of the May celebrations of the Lannesdorf bachelors. In 2019, the bachelors celebrated their May Ball there with the last possible event, says Philipp Krupp. Good contacts now ensured that the hall could be used again for the May Ball 2024 at the end of April to mark the 130th anniversary of the bachelor club. This year's May King couple, May King Christian Theisen and May Queen Kerstin Walgenbach, were of course in the spotlight during the dance under the traditional flag of the Friendship Association bachelor club. The coronation was carried out by the Friendship Association bachelor club's assessor Fabian Buckler. Afterwards, many visitors celebrated the May Ball tradition in the full club hall.

The bachelor's club contributes to the diversity of social life in the Lannesdorf district with a wide range of activities and significantly strengthens the feeling of belonging in the town. The bachelors also get involved across local boundaries, for example setting up several local maypoles and helping other clubs in the district to hold events. Since its founding on June 14, 1894, the Friendship Association bachelor's club has been an integral part of the village community in Lannesdorf. For example, it takes part as a group in the Rose Monday procession as well as at the Maypole placement and the local fair in June as well as at the local Christmas market. Right from the beginning of the club's history, the goal was to maintain and maintain the customs and customs of the homeland. The bachelors immortalized their motto in a church flag.

Club life has had to come to a standstill several times over the past 130 years. The two world wars were one reason. The club suffered from a lack of young talent on several occasions, meaning that the May auction, May ball, fair and foundation festivals could no longer be held. But interest in maintaining customs flared up again and again. The “last restart” took place in 2015 and with the support of the Lannesdorf local committee, the bachelor club has been back on the road to success for years now. The club will continue to celebrate its very special anniversary at the fair on the second weekend in June 2024.
